Sensational rock, pop, and new wave artists Rod Stewart and Cyndi Lauper are bringing their signature sounds to the Jiffy Lube Live!
Rod Stewart Bio
“Rarely has a singer had as full and unique a talent as Rod Stewart — a writer who offered profound lyricism and fabulous self-deprecating humor, teller of tall tales and honest heartbreaker, he had an unmatched eye for the tiny details around which lives turn, shatter, and reform — and a voice to make those details indelible. His solo albums were defined by two special qualities: warmth, which was redemptive, and modesty, which was liberating. If ever any rocker chose the role of everyman and lived up to it, it was Rod Stewart.” –The Rolling Stone Illustrated History of Rock & Roll (1980)
Cyndi Lauper Bio
Cynthia Ann Stephanie Lauper was born in Queens in 1953 and is a singer, songwriter, actress, and LGBT activist. She grew up listening to The Beatles, Ella Fitzgerald, Judy Garland, Billie Holiday and at the age 12, began writing songs and playing acoustic guitar. In 1978 she formed a band called Blue Angel and they released their self-titled debut album 2 years later. The group disbanded due to financial troubles but Cyndi’s star potential hadn’t gone unnoticed by the industry (particularly due to her four-octave singing range). She released her debut album (She’s So Unusual) in 1983 and it was a worldwide hit, reaching #4 on the US Billboard 200 chart. It was in the chart’s top 40 for 65 weeks, sold over 6 million copies in the US, and 16 million internationally. The album spawned 4 huge hits; Time After Time, She Bop, All Through the Night, and Girls Just Wanna Have Fun (the latter being nominated for 2 Grammy Awards and winning an MTV Video Music Award). She’s also won a Tony Award (for Best Original Score), an Emmy Award, and an MTV Video Music Award.
